Reporter Bob Wilton (Ewan McGregor), is looking for a big story when he finds Lyn Cassady (George Clooney), a mysterious man who claims to be part of an experimental U.S, Military unit trained to read enemy thoughts, walk through walls, and even kill a goat just by staring at it. Intrigued, Bob joins Cassady on his wild covert mission to find the New Earth Army's missing founder, Bill Django (Jeff Bridges), and along the way finds the adventure of a lifetime.
